GRIP REGISTRANTS: THIS IS YOUR PAGE!
As we count off the days until your arrival at La Roche College on Sunday, July 22, you will want to make your travel arrangements. Please use the comment field on this page to look for a roommate, share a ride, or otherwise see who is coming. By arranging for airport arrivals about the same time (so far about 20 of you are flying), you may be able to share ground transportation. Two people from the Philadelphia area are taking the train. The rest of you are driving. Is there someone coming from your location or passing through it? We do have participants from 28 different states!
If you have signed up for a double dorm room, you may want to see about matching yourself through a post below. About July 1, we will be assigning dorm roommates from the pool of those who have picked that option.
Please note this is a public forum. If you would like to exchange email addresses or other contact information, please email the request to info@GRIPitt.org. We do need the consent of both parties involved.
Alternatively you can post on the GRIP Facebook page. You can “Like” us on GRIPitt.org’s Home page and keep up to date there.
Let’s see who all is coming!
Just over 3 weeks until GRIP begins! I’m really looking forward to five days of immersion in genealogy. It will be great to meet you all, especially the people who will be sharing the Intermediate Genealogy course with me. It’s terrific to have a genealogy institute that is (only) an eight hour drive for me.
I, too, took a double without any roommate. In the past, this has always been a very rewarding experience as we have each learned about the other’s areas of expertise and genealogical hints for further study. I will be flying to Pittsburgh but haven’t yet made my reservations. However, I’d be glad to room with you. I am from Maine (NYC, originally) and a retired elementary teacher. I will be taking the German Genealogy course, hopefully to learn to read those old Metrical books. I, too, plan to spend time studying. Let me know if you think this would work out! Carolyn
Hi Carolyn!
Sounds like we could be a match! I am in the German course also! I lived in the NJ/NY area for almost 30 years. I worked for New Jersey Transit until I retired. Maybe we can help each other dig up those old Germans!
Hi, Presently, I live in the northern panhandle of West Virginia. It is about an hour’s drive or so to Pittsburgh. La Roche will take a bit longer.
