It is with pleasure that GRIP announces that it has added Tom Jones’ Advanced Research Methods course to its July line-up. For a detailed description of the 18 sessions that will be presented, please click HERE. Registration for the July 17-22 courses will be on Wednesday, March 2, at noon Eastern.
THIS Wednesday, February 10 is the opening of registration for the six June 26-July 1 courses. Watch the Countdown Timer take you to the registration page automatically precisely at noon Eastern. No need to hit refresh or any other button.
Have you decided what you want to take yet? Review the courses and the registration procedures between now and Wednesday to take full advantage of your time during the registration process. Those who get through the process quickly will more likely score a seat in their chosen course. Don’t fret if you don’t–things do change for people and being at the top of a waitlist may also get you a seat.
We are truly excited at a brand-new concept this year with Denise Levenick’s “Family Archiving: Heirlooms in the Digital Age.” If you are in charge of the family “stuff” and don’t know how to handle, preserve, digitize, and share Grandma’s precious tea pot, then this is the course for you! Students will practice hands-on preservation, digitizing, and archival skills throughout the week using original artifacts, documents and photographs supplied by the instructor and/or the student. Students may also opt to work on individual archival projects with the instructor’s guidance. Now doesn’t that sound like fun as well as helping to preserve your family’s legacy?!
And the excitement continues with a course in “reverse genealogy.” “Fundamentals of Forensic Genealogy for the 21st Century” includes missing and unknown heirs, mineral rights claimants, military repatriation (no soldier left behind), and adoption research. Throughout the week, students will research an actual case as a practicum, putting what they learn into practice immediately.
We look forward to seeing you this summer! Let us know if you have any questions.
