COURSE UPDATE – Early Bird Deadline May 15
The Advanced Research Methods course in July taught by Tom Jones has filled. A waiting list has been started. All other courses have seats except the Pennsylvania Research course. You can still register for Judy Russell and Rick Sayre’s Law School for Genealogists course (July), or the DNA courses Practical Genetic Genealogy in either the June or July GRIP weeks.
Learn about Problem Solving with Church Records in June with the Rev. Dr. David McDonald whose “real life” job as a minister is bound to give unique insights! Here in Pennsylvania, where vital records do not exist very far back, church records are absolutely necessary to do research.
Want to know more about writing and publishing your family stories so that your relatives will actually read them? Dr. John Colletta and Michael Hait present a June course that covers everything from concept to published book in hand (or eReader!). With so many aids you can create a Christmas present they will never forget!
Can’t find your ancestors? Try Research in New York State with Karen Mauer Jones, CG, or Advanced Research Tools: Land Records with Rick Sayre, CG, CGL, and Pam Sayre, CG, CGL in June. You have to “nail their feet to the ground” in order to find them in the records. Land records, deeds, maps, Google Earth, oh, my!
Perhaps you need to begin your genealogy education and fill in “knowledge gaps” by taking Intermediate Genealogy: Tools for Digging Deeper with Paula Stuart-Warren, CG. Paula will ask her students for their brick-wall problems ahead of time so that they might become part of the course. Now that is personal service! On the other end of the spectrum is the course for becoming a professional genealogist. Can you make money at what you love? Find out with D. Joshua Taylor, MA, MLS, in Refresh, Rebuild, and Recharge Your Genealogy Career.
Determining Kinship with the Genealogical Proof Standard will help you understand how it is you know that something is proven. Learn directly from Tom Jones, the author of the book Mastering Genealogical Proof, which is used in the course.
Top instructors in our field don’t stand still. Catch them while we have them here at GRIP! Early Bird deadline is May 15. See the registration page for further information.
