GRIP instructors don’t let moss grow under their feet! The Institute for Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) at Samford University just completed last week in Birmingham, Alabama, with several GRIP instructors participating. Thomas W. Jones is the coordinator of the Genealogical Writing course held every year at IGHR. A variety of genealogical writing is presented throughout the course along with practical assignments in editing and writing.
John Humphrey debuted his German Research course which was well-received and acclaimed as very inspirational by the students. They cannot wait to put the new knowledge into practice to research their German families by using the techniques and sources covered.
Also in attendance at IGHR were:
— Rick Sayre coordinator of the Land course. Rick will be teaching in the Advanced course at GRIP.
— Elissa Scalise Powell who coordinated the Professional Genealogy course offered only at IGHR every two years.
— Deborah Lichtner Deal and Claire Mire Bettag were attendees of IGHR. Claire will be teaching in the Advanced course at GRIP.
Paula Stuart-Warren and Joshua Taylor are keeping busy organizing the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) conference in Springfield, Illinois, September 7 through 10. You can check out the website at www.FGS.org.
Look for our instructors in various venues as they lecture, teach, and attend genealogical events all over the country. You may even run across them in an airport as the following picture attests.
Elissa Scalise Powell and Paula Stuart-Warren run into each other at the Charleston airport after enjoying a week at the NGS conference in May 2011. They both had their GRIP shirts on!
