Excitement is high as over 200 students and a dozen faculty plan their travels to Pittsburgh for the first of two GRIP weeks this year. (There is still time until July 27 to sign up for courses in Orchard Lake, Michigan, for August 3-8.)
One of those coming, Tina Lyons, blogged about the “ultimate packing list.” I would add that the dorm room linen package will be from a different place this year so past experience may not be an indicator of future experience. (smile)
The one thing not mentioned is SLEEP! Come rested and prepared to have a great week with like-minded individuals. There is time to socialize over meals and in the evenings after the evening presentations. There is time to work on your genealogy or FamilySearch indexing in the company of others in the campus gathering spaces (dorm social lounge and SC102). There is time to do homework, take a walk, make new friends, go to the Carnegie Library (home of the Western PA Genealogical Society), or go to a Pirates baseball game. The only regret is that there is not time to do it all with so many options!
